Junior Sweep
Homecoming has come and passed, and there was a clear winner. The Junior Class of 2027 won the variety show, banner, and float.
On the Tuesday of homecoming week, the juniors took the variety show by storm. Junior Adrian Esparagoza won the singing portion, the Juniors won skit, and Junior Ella Freeman won Grand Champ for playing the How to Train Your Dragon theme on her guitar. Class President Olivia Dorris said, “I am very proud of our class. Everybody really stepped up and participated. Go 2027!”
For two years in a row, the Class of 2027 took home first place for the float. Their theme this year was Angry Birds. Class sponsor, Mr. Maddox said, “I think it was a creative idea that I have not seen done. It was very unique. All of the kids who worked on it were good kids and worked hard. Also, parents helped a whole lot. Now that we’ve won two years in a row, there is a lot of pressure on the class to perform next year. I can’t wait to see what these bright minds do next year.”
New to homecoming week was the banner competition. This was the odd ball. Due to it being new, no one knew what to expect. Class Secretary Amelia Nolen said, “I was surprised, but glad we won. We put a lot of work into it, and it’s well deserved.”
The Juniors are going to have a lot of work to do to prepare for next year’s homecoming.
